Updated copy: On Saturday 23 August 2025, an open letter from the Tasmanian Racing Integrity Commissioner was published in Tasmanian newspapers. Regrettably, this open letter incorrectly stated that the announcement by the Tasmanian Government to phase out greyhound racing was made on the 10 July 2025. This announcement was made on the 10 August 2025. We apologise for the error and any confusion caused.

​Media policy​

The Commissioner may communicate with media. The Commissioner's staff are not authorised to do so without the prior approval of the Commissioner.

​​The Commissioner will not comment on operational matters, including investigations, inquiries, and other activities, or where confidentiality or privacy are required or authorised by law.

When determining whether to release or comment on information, the Commissioner will consider factors including:

  • legal obligations and arrangements with other persons, bodies, and authorities.
  • the risk of prejudice to any current or future operational matters or activities, including the activities of other persons, bodies, and authorities.
  • the rights of complainants and other persons who assist the Commissioner, including their rights to confidentiality and privacy.
  • the risk of any reputational damage to complainants and stakeholders generally.
  • the risk of prejudice to court or tribunal proceedings.

The Commissioner will publish an annual report on the performance of his functions and the exercise of his powers on this website. As appropriate, it will include summaries of investigations, inquiries, and other activities.

The Commissioner will also publish other reports and information about his activities on this website.
